The Difference You Can See and Hear
Looking for home theater information? We’ve got it! With the right planning, investing in a home theater can be one of the best enhancements to your lifestyle. Home theaters are great for relaxing, entertaining, and bringing the whole family together. One important thing to remember in considering your many home theater options is that the sum of the parts is usually greater than the whole. Audio Dimensions has over 28 years of experience putting audio and video together for thousands of satisfied customers, receiving numerous awards and recognitions.
Media Room or Home Theater?
The first step is to plan your space. Will you have a dedicated home theater room or will your system be in a multi-purpose media room? Either way can be fantastic. A dedicated home theater is designed specifically for entertainment: enjoying movies, sports, TV, and video gaming. Basements, attics, bonus rooms, or spare rooms are great as dedicated home theater spaces. A media room serves for more than entertaining. A family room or bonus room usually doubles as a media room as well.
Screen Size and Viewing Distance
The next steps are deciding both the location and size for your video display. Both the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and THX Ltd. (a developer of quality standards founded by Lucasfilm) have recommendations on this subject. This step is very important to get right, and is probably the most difficult one to fix if you get it wrong.
Acoustics and Soundproofing
It’s important to have a great picture, but a movie without good sound is a terrible experience. You must be able to clearly understand dialogue. Great sound immerses you in a film’s sound effects. All things being equal, acoustic treatments (these can be carefully done, normal room furnishings) have a larger impact on the sound than almost any component. Another thing to consider is soundproofing. Will late night viewing disturb others? Should you do something about it?
Choosing the Right Equipment
This is the fun part for most people. Significant improvements in video technology can give you a great picture for a fraction of the cost only 10 years ago. This allows more room in your budget for great sound. Unlike video, audio pricing has held very steady in its cost to performance ratio. Recent improvements in home theater speakers will make your surround sound experience even more fun. Matching all your equipment up is where Paradyme experts and our experience will be a big help.

Furniture
What do you look for in a Home theater cabinet? There are many considerations but they are not obvious when you are shopping for a cabinet. Often, at a great inconvenience, these shortcomings are not discovered until after the purchase.
One of the most important considerations is proper ventilation. This is one area where many cabinets failed miserably. They will appear to have airflow vents but in practice they are inadequate and insufficient, especially when the doors are closed. The amplifier will then overheat and shut itself off. This overheating can also shorten the lifetime of many electronics within. In some cabinets, a thermostatically control fan is required.
Another consideration is the shelving’s depth, height, and rear access. Be sure the cabinet has sufficient depth to house your receiver and enough space to easily connect the cables in the back. Many of today’s quality receivers and components are quite deep and heavy. Once in place, you wouldn’t want to move it. To wire these components together, you will require access to the component’s rear. Also check for adequate airflow space around the components.
Without good wire management, just connecting the receiver, speakers, DVD Blu-Ray player, Cable Box, and game console will create a spaghetti mess of wires in the back, making it difficult to service. Look for ways the cabinet tries to reduce this problem.
Most traditional furniture brands, which are sold in furniture stores, do not fully understand these issues. It’s because they are not in the electronics business.
Audio Dimensions’s selection of TV cabinets is made by specialty makers whose sole focus is on home theater. They fully understand the requirements. They have solved theses issues and they are beautiful.
THEATER SEATING:
Theater seating is the finishing touch to compliment any home theater and/or audio/video system. Your Company Name is proud to feature theater seats from Acoustic Innovations and Salamander Designs. If you’re designing a dedicated home theater room, you’ll want at least a row or two of theater seats. There are many seat covering options available, from highly durable fabrics to the finest quality leathers. Most companies also offer options for drink holders and motorized reclining. We highly recommend incorporating these two.
If you have children, it’s likely their friends will be coming over to use the theater and making your home the neighborhood hangs out. Something you may want to consider if this is the case is modular seating. It’s far easier to fit 10 small kids on a big sectional than in four theater seats. When the kids get older, you can switch the sectional out for theater seats.
We invite you to visit our showroom and sit in our samples of theater seating. We’re sure you will find something that fits your style and budget.
